Throughout the years, festivals have always been a great way of bringing people together....and also play an important part of building a community. The history of the SPAMŪ products dates back to 1937, and was a culture icon in the 40's. During World War II, sales of SPAMŪ luncheon meat soared. In part because it requires no refrigeration, SPAMŪ products were perfect for the military and became a standard K-ration for U.S. soldiers. Today, you can visit the SPAMŪ Museum at 1101 N. Main Street, Austin, Minnesota and also go to the office Website at: www.spam.com. Shady Cove has been known for one-day of celebrating this tradition, along with many other cities across the USA. Our event is comprised of all volunteers. Our mission is to give back to the community youth groups and for 3 years now, we have been able to do this. Last year, we gave back to 3 local youth groups from a portion of our net proceeds. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to have you. "Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!"
